Frequently Asked Questions

Accessibility and Safety

Accessibility:

As an operational ship, we remain fully compliant with USCG requirements. Unfortunately, we are not ADA accessible. However, we strive to move forward towards this goal. Please follow our website, newsletter, and social media for updates.

Safety Considerations:

We have done everything we can to make the SS American Victory a safe place to visit. We are fully in compliance with Coast Guard regulations for a museum ship. However, it is still important to recognize that there are dangerous spaces on any ship. If a sign says “Crew Only” or “No Admittance” it is there for safety reasons. Do not enter those areas.

Service Animals

Service animals are welcome. Please be advised that ladders are steep, passageways are narrow, and rough services throughout.

How Long Will You Spend on Board

Give yourself plenty of time to visit. Generally, you should plan to spend a minimum of 60 to 90 minutes touring the entire ship.
